In mid-2004 the school received a donation of second-hand solar panels. The panels were cleaned and tested by children from all classes in the school. By the end of last year, members of the solar power sub-committee were in the process of selecting a suitable inverter and data logger, and developing detailed installation plans for the solar power system. It is expected that the school's solar power system will be operational in 2005.
BioWorks was established as a Pty/Ltd company in November 2005 by Martin Aldridge, Craig Lovelady and Jonathon Thwaites. The Company is committed to empowering communities, particularly in regional area and local organistions and companies, so that they can manufacture their own fuel requirements in the form of biodiesel. Rather than sequester information, know how and the means of manufacture into large centralized facilities, BioWorks aims to create a decentralized network of manufacturing capacity owned and run by local people.
BioWorks plans to establish a network of biodiesel production facilities based on the fuel needs of rural communities. BioWorks will support the network producers through providing technical support, training, and procurement of raw material inputs, quality control and testing services. The Community network model will offset biodiesel start-up and infrastructure costs that are presently a barrier to the entry of small to medium size producers in this industry by allowing costs to be shared across a number of small producers.
BioWorks is manufacturing and importing biodiesel batching plants ranging in size from those suitable for the home or farm operator at 150 litres per day to over 30,000 litres per day (3 million litres per year).
BioWorks is committed to sustainability initiatives. Energy efficiency, green house gas reduction and the invigoration of regional communities.

AIS recommends a 'Best Practice' approach to new housing, that is, adding R3.5 ceiling and R1.35 wall insulation, during construction. This provides a solid foundation to enable your housing design to achieve a 'Five Star' energy efficient design, thereby reducing the reliance on energy using heating and cooling appliances in maintaining a comfortable living environment.
AIS is WA's wall insulation specialist and has been providing this service for over 5 years. For both new and Œretrofitting‚ existing homes, through using water repellent Granulated Rockwool Insulation, adding a R1.35 to a 50mm cavity. This method has been used in the UK for the past 20 years.

Australia New Zealand Solar Energy Society (ANZES)
ANZSES believes that solar energy is ready NOW to provide a sustainable future.
ANZSES exists to promote scientific and economic development through the environmentally sound utilization of solar energy. Some members of our members work in the renewable energy or energy efficiency industries; others are interested members of the general community.
ANZSES members exchange information through the magazine Solar Progress, electronic newsletters, local symposiums and an annual conference. Members automatically belong to the International Solar Energy Society (ISES), receive copies of the magazine REFOCUS and participate in a world-wide exchange of information.
ANZSES works to influence government policies that may impact upon the present and future development of solar energy applications. It does this by providing timely, accurate and up to date information to decision makers.
ANZSES organizes the annual Sustainable House Day on the second Sunday of September www.solarhouseday.com On this day selected home owners in Australia open their well designed sustainable houses to the general public. They explain the advantages of living in such a house in a way that cannot be conveyed by any project house.

Greenpeace is an independent, campaigning organisation that uses non-violent, creative confrontation to expose global environmental problems, and force solutions for a green and peaceful future. Greenpeace's goal is to ensure the ability of the Earth to nurture life in all its diversity.
The Greenpeace Perth Local Group supports Greenpeace campaigns at a local level through public outreach, research, letter and submission writing, participation in nonviolent direct actions and more.
Greenpeace campaigns to:
Prevent dangerous climate change by phasing out fossil fuels (oil, gas and coal) and replacing them with clean, renewable energies, such as wind and sola
Save the remaining ancient forests by replacing industrial logging with sustainable eco forestry
Promote sustainable food production through natural rather than genetically engineered means – safeguarding people’s health and the environment
Disarm and close the nuclear industry, replacing it with clean, renewable energies, such as wind and solar, and non-nuclear medical alternatives
Safeguard cean biodiversity through replacing large-scale fishing with sustainable practices, preventing fishery bycatch and ending commercial whaling
Protect human health by eliminating sources of toxic poison, replacing them with cleaner alternatives and the safe removal of toxic waste dumps
We are a political Party. The Greens (WA) act as a voice for the community. We believe that no one has a monopoly on the answers and that no one should have a monopoly on decision making. The radical expansion of democracy, a cornerstone of Green politics, is about bringing people into the political process, putting decisions in the hands of those affected and giving the community a voice. Our vision of the future is based on the four interconnecting pillars of social justice, environmental responsibility, peace and nonviolence, and participatory democracy.
The Anti-Nuclear Alliance of WA has campaigned since 1997 against the nuclearisation of Australia in all its aspects: uranium mining, the new Œresearch‚ reactor in Sydney, irradiation of food, the hosting of an international N-waste dump and the use of depleted uranium in weapons.
Through our stalls, website, public meetings, and media liaison, we counter the misleading mantra of the nuclear industry that it is the answer to the greenhouse problem. If nuclear energy is assessed for greenhouse gas emissions over the whole cycle - mining, milling, construction, reprocessing of fuel, decommissioning of reactors, transport and storage of waste (rather than just the production of electricity) ˆ the sums look very different. Not only does N-power leave deadly waste for future generations but the net greenhouse emissions are right up there! Investment in clean renewable technologies reaps far greater harvests than do the billions needed to prop up the nuclear industry.
Check out our website before you come to the Sun Fair, then come and pick up the latest pamphlets and have a chat.
Blue Cell Energy Pty Ltd imports, distributes and retails renewable energy education and hydrogen fuel cells, science kits and commercial systems. We sell direct to Government, Businesses, Universities, Colleges, Schools, retailers and the public. We promote a future powered by hydrogen fuel cells in combination with renewable energy technologies: - zero emissions energy systems.
As part of the Western Australian Government's commitment to working towards sustainable transport energy solutions in Western Australia, a number of initiatives are being introduced to encourage the development of clean fuels.
Since September 2004, Perth has been participating in one of the first major trials of hydrogen fuel cell buses in the world.
Participation in the trial brings Western Australians close to the global development of this exciting technology, and will allow us to fully evaluate the potential of hydrogen and fuel cells as one of the possible transport energy solutions of the future.
The Sustainable Energy Development Office plays a vital role in accelerating the adoption of renewable energy and energy-efficient strategies across all sectors of the community - from business and industry to government and the general public.
By implementing programs that promote and highlight the importance of renewable energy and energy efficiency, the Sustainable Energy Development Office is fostering a sustainable energy industry that contributes to the Western Australian economy and the environment.
Department of Agriculture - Biodiesel Production Demonstration Trailer
The Department of Agriculture is investing in biodiesel research with the knowledge that it is not currently viable, but future pressure on oil reserves will eventually make it a practical for Western Australian farmers to grown their own fuel.
The Department of Agriculture is committed to investigating the practical and economic components of on farm biodiesel production in anticipation of increasing demand for this information as fuel prices rise.
Our demonstration trailer will be on display at the 2007 Perth Sun Fair with staff on hand to answer questions and discuss the issues involved in biodiesel production.

City Farm & Men of the Trees
City Farm is an organic community garden, education and network centre that operates on permaculture principles. We promote healthy urban environments that are productive and diverse. The East Perth City Farm was founded in 1994 as an initiative of the Planetary Action Network (PAN), the youth branch of Men of the Trees in Western Australia. Before becoming an organic permaculture centre, the site was used as a scrap metal yard and a battery recycling plant. City Farm has transformed the site in order to demonstrate how heavily degraded land can be rehabilitated.
City Farm promotes environmental awareness and responsible practices by providing information, training and hosting community-based projects. With our parent body, Men of the Trees, we facilitate tree-planting trips around the State and hold public demonstrations for events and festivals.
