Electric Bicycle Rally July 1999

This was the first event of its kind promoting personal electric transport technology for every day use. Ten paricipants completed the rally around Technology Park in Bently on a Sunday. Some of the vehicles were home made others were commercial models.

Jonathon Thwaite's electric bike. Purchased motor wheel installed on an old bicycle, home made battery pack using D size nicads from old exit lighting units. Nominally 350 Watt, 48 Volt brushed DC motor with planetary gear from Taiwan. Range approx. 20 km at 15 km/h.
